Born in Charlotte, North Carolina in 1991, Walter "Ragan" Dickson’s attention to photography came at a young age watching his father use film cameras on family trips and at concerts. Ragan had looked through many magazines such as Time, Vogue, Rolling Stone, and Kerrang, which have influenced much of his work today. While mainly working in portraiture his intentions are to make the viewer wonder about the individuals in his photographs. Ragan graduated from Winthrop University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Commercial Photography. Working with Mark Hamilton during this time period helped further Ragan's understanding of who he is as a photographer and who he will become.
